Can I use a monitor arm with the Stir Kinetic Desk?
If you do not have a monitor with it’s own stand, a monitor arm can be helpful to be sure your head is in a comfortable position. The M1 is 1.125” thick and is designed to accommodate most clamp-style monitor arms available today. The F1 is 3.5” thick so the monitor arm clamp should accommodate that size. Stir does not recommend drilling into the desktop surface for any reason.
Can I use a keyboard tray with the Stir Kinetic Desk?
Most people find that when the monitor is elevated, a dedicated keyboard tray is not necessary. The M1 model will accommodate select keyboard tray models with 11” rails. Please call us and we’ll have you find one that will work. The F1 model does not support a keyboard tray.
Can I customize the size and color of the Stir Kinetic Desk?
For sizes, each Stir Kinetic Desk comes in a basic 30” x 60” size. The measurements are within ½” to provide gaps to fit in standard furniture spaces.
The M1 model is also available in a larger and smaller size, when purchased in volume for business installations. Click here for more information.
What is Person Identification?
Stir Kinetic Desks use an array of sensors to recognize when a person is at the desk. This enables it to keep track of the extra calories you burn while standing. Using built-in bluetooth and a linked device, the desk can also log you into your user profile hands-free. You can then instantly access existing settings and activity data on any Stir Kinetic Desk.
Person Identification is currently supported while using certain fitbit devices*. We’re actively working to roll out integration with more devices. For the latest on that and more from Stir, follow our blog or subscribe to our newsletter by clicking “Get Updates” on the top right of this page!
How much weight can I put on my desk?
A Stir Kinetic Desk can accommodate up to 150 lb of equipment.
I do not live in the U.S., can you ship me a Stir Kinetic Desk?
The Stir Kinetic Desk ships within the 48 contiguous United States. At this time, we do not offer international shipping. If you’d like though, add yourself to our mailing list by clicking here, and we’ll let you know when we are able to ship to your location.
What devices will sync with my desk to share data or automatically log me in to a M1/F1?
All Stir Kinetic Desks are engineered and tested to sync activity data with any Fitbit device. This includes the latest Charge, Charge HR and Surge models. While all Fitbit devices will sync activity data, only certain Fitbit devices* will allow you to use hands-free login (or Person Identification) at this time.

How do I assemble my desk?
The M1 model is designed to be assembled by you and a friend. It should take about 30 minutes. Assembly tools are included and only 8 bolts used to get your desk together. The assembly instructions for M1 are found in your user manual or in this video.
The F1 is delivered with white glove assembly. From time of arrival to departure, the team will be with you for about 1 hour. They will unpack and assemble your desk, and remove the refuse unless you wish to keep it. If you are moving and have questions, feel free to contact us for specific instructions or see your user manual for details.
How do I update my desk’s software?
The Stir Kinetic Desk is driven by software. The built-in Wi-Fi connection assures that you’ll receive updates silently in the background if connected. These updates are pushed automatically overnight whenever needed (between 12am-4am PST) and may result in the desk rebooting. Most users will never interact with the update process. You’ll simply approach the desk to work the next morning and the new features will be there waiting!
If you are working late and the desk reboots after an update, the process will only take a few minutes. In many cases (minor bug fixes/improvements) you’ll only wait seconds until the screen is back up and ready to use.
Does Stir use any open source software?
